Swoon Scoreboard began as a running argument with friends about which reply wins, which opener should be retired, and whether a slow-motion doorway entrance counts as a personality. Now the arguments get numbers, brackets and rematches, and I write them down so nobody can pretend they never lost.

Here is how scoring works. Everything is graded out of 10 swoon points. Specific beats generic, nerve beats safety, and a line that sounds like a real brain wrote it on purpose beats anything that could be sent to forty people at once. I am loud, I am biased, and I will change a score if you make a good enough case. The only things I never reward are pressure, control and cruelty dressed up as chemistry. Tension is delicious. Hunting someone is not.
